If you’re a keen gardener and a Nature lover, the urban jungle that hugs the outer space of Casa Pantha will welcome you in its lush greenery. In our demanding Mediterranean subtropical climate, the big challenge is to know the specificities of your own space, and how to create micro-climates, micro-habitats and sustaining balance.
The same can be said about creating ecosystems. It’s all about mimicking the natural environment you want to create, knowing its climatic conditions/variations, the kind of plants and animals thriving in it, and how to maintain its balance to see its evolution. The same universal principles apply when we create a living habitat, whatever it’s on the scale of a 5 liters jar or of a entire garden.
Casa Pantha is trying to be as sustainable as possible. Home of a mini farm for aquatic plants, mosses and other mini-plants, most of the vegetation used in the ecosystem workshops are produced at home. None of the organic matter (except dark-water) leave the house, being naturally processed and used as food and fertilizer in our “suspended” forest.
Being immersed in Nature is also very healing. Being in contact with the soil, the living flora and fauna, and the reality of their interdependence to not only survive but thrive makes us aware of our own reality: we are not just part of Nature, but as any other organism on the planet, we are dependent to one another. It’s an humbling process, and a meditation in action.
